I'm undecided which to try between these two for bipolar 2? Any thoughts? I'm still considering lamictal though but have read the best reviews between these two.

Isn't gabapentin used for anxiety & sleep also? Is it always a mood stabilizer. When you google it says for seizures? Phillipa

That what confuses me too that it is used for anxiety, the majority if reviews were for anxiety, I don't see taking it up to 3 times a day or and med.

I'd take trileptal. Neurontin--for me at least, and a few people I can think of--is good as an add on medicine if you have agitation in a mood disorder, but...its not so great as a stand alone treatment.
Trileptal helps my agitation, anxiety, lack of focus, hypomanic issues (I don't get full fledged mania very often, so I just need something for hypomania, kind of like you, I guess...).
The downside is that the first couple weeks its sedating. And you'll feel kind of dumb. That happens sometimes.
You'll need baseline sodium levels before you start and a follow up, I think within 12 weeks. After that, I think your doc just does blood sodium whenever...

To mirror what christ_empowered said, trileptal probably has more research as a mood stabilizer. Gabapentin is probably better for anxiety, agitation, pain, migraine and sleep.

Neurontin/Gabapentin doesn't have a lot of data backing it up as a mood stabilizer.
You'd probably have better luck with Trileptal.

I couldn't imagine that Neurontin would touch your bipolar, but I'm not a doctor.
This is the end of the thread.
