Need big help before Wed the 27th

Posted by Phil on August 24, 2014, at 8:08:48

Scott said or asked why are you at 300mg of Lamotrigine because it is worse for cognition /memory over 200mg. Maybe that should be the 1st step.
My doctor took me off of Lithium and the 60mg of Adderall I was taking made me crazy. I stepped my dose down. I take 10mg occasionally, not often. I wonder if Ritalin might help ay 20mg a day. My thinking is slowed without it. Maybe PRN?
Seroquel 400mg instant release is all I can afford. My doctor is seeing me every two months to save money but I am far from stable, much less happy.
Lithium helped but I don't want to go back to it.
I'm not helping myself exercise wise though I'm eating better. I lose a pound every 2-3 days when I eat right but then gorge on ice cream and for right back to where I was weight wise.
He took me off of Metformin when I lost 30 pounds. Why? I also take 1.5mg daily.
If anyone has some suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
I have thought about dropping this doctor even though I like him but I don't even know if that's a good idea.
Some days I can't figure out a simple problem.

Hi Phil.

Just as is the case with most psychotropics, there is some variability between people as to what dosage of Lamictal works best for them. In my estimation, the majority of people do best at 200 mg/day. However, some people need 300 mg/day or, rarely, higher. If you decide to reduce your dosage of Lamictal, I recommend that you do it in 25 mg decrements. A more rapid reduction is likely to trigger a rebound depression that, although temporary, would only serve to fool you into thinking that you still need the higher dosage.

1. Are you seeing your doctor on Wednesday?
2. What is your current diagnosis?
3. What symptoms are most problematic?

Thanks Scott, Wednesday it is. My symptoms are going to bed a half hour after taking Seroquel. 10pm(good). The next night, I take my Seroquel and end up writing till 3am for a total of 36 hours straight. Then depressed for a few hours after waking up at 5pm the next day. Then a bit manic with loss of judgement(internet only)
My mood chart looks like a paper off of a polygraph machine.
I think that a lot of my problems come from not working out enough..walk/stretch/sweat, or just getting outside. IOW, I'm confused. I realize that's not much to work with.

You know, I've been on it so long that I have no idea what it does. I still think I should take it. I just don't know why.
