Emsam has helped my depression but brought back an old problem I thought I was cured of- stuttering.
I'm genetically predisposed as my father was a profound stutterer. Last visit to my Pdoc I told him about this problem, he replied, "I don't know how to help you".
Where do I turn to when my psychiatrist gives up on me? If I make an appointment for a new one it will be at least 4 month wait.

Wouldn't say a speech therapist be of more help than a medication? I honestly have no idea. Phillipa

Is there some kind of synergy with these? I tried this combination couple months ago along with Emsam. It seemed to be very effective for anxiety.
Couldn't handle the fatigue and depression it caused unfortunately.

i was involved with some reasearch a year or so ago that had a pretty amazing discovery. There was a women who had a brain injury and she had terrible vision and started stuttering.
we worked with an opthamologist and he made her a set of prism glasses. When she would put the glasses on it would take about few minutes and then, her vision was way better AND her stuttering stopped.
whne she took the glasses off, it took a few min and she had trouble walking again and her stuttering acme back.i know thats probably not very helpful, but the human body is so amazing, that you just never know.

clonidine I think is used for tics. I took some w/ klonopin for nervous tics for a while, and it was OK. I'm clearly no sort of MD...just throwing ideas out there.

Sounds like your experience with Clonidine was positive? How long were you on it and what dose?
Better off a lot of times asking people who have actually taken a med than asking a MD. I find askapatient.com is a better information source than asking an MD.
Clonidine reminded me of how I felt on the muscle relaxer Carisoprodol. A soothing serene calm but with the same depressive effect on mood.
Wonder how my seasonal affective disorder effected my trial with Clonidine? Might have had a different outcome. Haven't seen a sunny day in almost a week.

it was OK. I had a lot going on. I forget the dose, sorry. The Klonopin was only 1mgs/day, then I was switched to some dose of Ativan (I know..."some dose," real helpful. Its been a while...).
The tics weren't so terrible on the meds. They've since gone away.

I'm in Minnesota. Seems like its cloudy 50% of the time here. Depression is like an epidemic.
Carisoprodol is a muscle relaxer related to barbiturate. I haven't had in years. Great for back aches. A controlled drug and rightly so.

It is soma and have a full bottle here. Just never took it. Way back in 70's was given mepbrobamate and it was combined with valium. Took for about a year and then just stopped it as didn't need it anymore. No withdrawals. Nada. Phillipa

You're really best off finding a speech therapist.
