When will AD's work so well that...

that Drug Companies dont feel the need to be biased with which Clinical Trials they report to the FDA http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/842753

i like to daydream about the future sometimes. like about how the world will be and what medical technologies will be available. right now, it seems like Optogenetics will be the biggest breakthrough when it is made to be usable on humans. but thats probably at least 20 years away. and then will likely be a last resort, kinda like a replacement for todays ECT. to me, it seems like there hasnt been a major advance in the treatment of mood disorders since about the 1960's. we have tons of more understanding of them, and a boatload of different meds have been released over the years. but even medications that have been released in the past 5 years work in the same fundamental ways as meds released half a century ago.

so yeah, just felt like posting some of my thoughts.

I have always felt very strongly that developments in psychology will be just as critical as medical advances. I imagine CBT, DBT, or new techniques could eliminate talk therapy for a lot of patients, and in talk therapy could be more adaptive to patients to determine better which types of therapy or analysis are indicated. For now it just seems to be counselor preference.

I agree. We had amitriptyline, nardil, parnate, tegretol and lithium. We really haven't got much better than that.
