How does Lithium tend to make one feel

Posted by hello123 on April 23, 2015, at 14:35:09

SSRI's are known for their stimulant effect. Dopamine increasing meds are known to be stimulating. Antipsychotics are known for decreasing pleasure. What kind of an effect does Lithium tend to have? i saw a new Pdoc today and this is what he prescribed in a low dose, not for bipolar, but for depression. i havent taken it yet, and would like to have an idea of what to expect.

SSRI's never gave me a stimulant effect and antipsychotics did not cause me a decrease in pleasure. So....Lithium had no effect at all that I noticed except to quiet intrusive thoughts of self-harm, which was what it was intended to do. But that's only 600mg. I'm sure things are different at higher doses.

Im not so sure about that.

Lithium seems to exercise its effect on "bad" thoughts at very low doses.

I couldnt get any additional benefit over 15mgs elementar lithium. I take 15mg.
