I am guessing that cariprazine is better for negative symptoms and depression. It is more selective for D3 than D2 receptors. Unfortunately, the FDA has not approved it yet. Unless I see magic in brexpiprazole for others, I will be waiting for cariprazine to use as a substitute for Abilify.

they need to make a AP that modulates mood, but also suppresses excess dopamine in the brain, more selective, but this looks liek one of those.....
thorazine, clozipine all are usally sedating, they make you feel peaceful from crazy thoughts, but they have sedating side effects with some cognitive blunting
abilify and geodon are the two that are known to not cause sedation.....
where coming into the new century so ... soon all the older classes of AP's will be put back in the closet

As I understand it, the US FDA has determined that cariprazine is safe and effective. They are just waiting for some additional data regarding dosing.
You never know.
