TofisoPam: an Atypical Benzo? in the Making?!!

Posted by Xtrasensitive on October 28, 2015, at 23:08:29

Hi Friends,

Have any of you heard of this med? I think though some might, few would have luck on their sides to try this. But being widely available in Asian countries, it is no wonder this unique molecule of Hungarian origin should necessarily attract more in South Eastern parts of the world.

I began taking TOFICAM (an Indian brand of tofisopam) 200 mg daily in divided doses couple of days apart. 100mg in the morning 50mg at noon and another 50mg no later than 5pm. This is my third day on it.

EFFECTS: a nice tranquilization with neither euphoria nor sedation attached to it. Little bit of energizing or call it activating from noon to night. So far not a hint of any side effects.

It says a benzodiazepine, but though this can be true because of the chemical structure; I think Tofisopam is a drug on its own class. Otherwise what will you call a drug that calms and stimulate you at the same time? Right, to calm your agitated nerves Tofisopam is reliably equal to diazepam but not with latter's unwanted effects like sedation, drowsiness. That leaves you attentfully functional.

I don't take my quota of provigil now because TOFFIE does the job. Have cut my XANAX DOSE to half and I hope I will soon be quitting Xanax.

Let me say 100 mg of ToFFIE is roughly equivalent

to 1 mg of XANAX.

All I can say is WOW! If it does what the literature says it does, it should be a very useful drug. The drug manufacturer is trying to get the D-enantiomer of tofisopam (dextofisopam) approved in the USA for irritable bowel syndrome. I hope it doesn't lose its anxiolytic effects. Maybe it could be used off-label.

Does it cause physical dependancy like other benzodiazepines?

I don't know. That's a great question that I had not thought to ask.

I can't answer from my experienc as it is early to conclude but anecdotes plus many Docs here confirm there is neither psychological nor physiological dependence reported with this drug. And yes, it is available in EUROPE under the brand GRANDAXIN.

Its not a new drug to say at least; has a good track record of more than twenty plus years.
