I have an odd 'relief' response to antibiotics, too. Have noticed it since forever. Feel better after a course of antibiotics than I typically do when I'm 'well'

I had Cat Scratch Fever Encephalitis in 2001. I often wonder if a mild infection might have persisted.

Not necessarily. Sometimes, after an infection, the immune system mistakenly attacks the brain long after the infection has disappeared. That's the contention of some researchers. There is a relatively new field of study called psychoneuroimmunology. It is a fact that inflammatory processes in the brain often occur in conjunction with affective disorders (Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder).
