I take 160mg of Geodon for the past 9 months and have been bothered by tremors since at least January.
Is there anything I can take or do to stop the tremors?
Reduce the dose? Add something else?

if you need a tranquilizer, I'd try a switch-a-roo. Maybe..latuda?
Propranolol can help, but...that'd just be suppressing it. It could turn into full fledged TD on propranolol treatment.

I thought Latuda is just like Geodon?
Isn't it an AAP? Wouldn't it cause tremors too?

My insurance doesn't cover Latuda. The doc would have to spend time on the phone trying to get it approved. Probably too much trouble.

not sure if tremors are associated, but cogentin is a good med to fight against jerking on antipsychotics
but geodon is not really a serious antipsychosis that can cause jerking, it works well with many people, i took 40mg of olanzapine and i jerked and would have uncontrollable tremors, but ... i guess lower the dose, but ask about cognentin
im not an expert on that, that's just my 2 cents

latuda was just a random selection. I don't know its EPS profile.
You could try lowering the dose. What else are you taking? Some mood stabilizers can make EPS worse. I got bad EPS from Abillify+Depakote, but I don't get any EPS from Abilify+Trileptal+Lamictal. Weird, huh?
Propranolol, benztropine...I wanna say amantadine is used now, too. But that's just suppressing it.
What other AP/AAP drugs have you tried? My problem with this situation is that you're female, have a mood disorder, and you're experiencing pronounced EPS. If you suppress the symptoms, it could turn into full fledged TD over time, which is hard to notice until its too late because the neuroleptics themselves mask early signs of TD.
Have you ever tried Zyprexa or seroquel? I wanna say those 2 have lower EPS and TD rates than most other atypicals. Abilify...is hit or miss. I tolerate it better than anything else, some people do better on D2 blockers.
Weight gain with zyprexa can be mitigated with metformin, which has a fairly benign profile. Some smaller studies have used high doses of potent antioxidants, such as alpha lipoic acid, to good effect.

Thanks! Some good ideas to think about.
