it's also in tylenol pm, and over the counter sleep aids, you can buy it basically anywhere, gas station etc......the best for me is usally 50-100mg

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diphenhydramine

but it also can make some people have nasty side effects, antihistamines (sedative ones) can impair driving, i was driving on Tylenol pm and it caused me to hit the curb and screwed up my car long ago....i took it becaus ei couldnt sleep, and drove to the store to get some groceries, yea.....watch out with driving, but generally it's safe, the FDA wouldn't let it be on the market if it had potential for major damage and abuse

it's avaiable everywhere, well in US just like alcohol and coffee, but there is always a small depednence on it but it lacks the serious depedence that presciption sedatives have.......

i've known people who've taken tylenol pm for 20 years, just buy when they go to the store

Yup, me too. Either 100 mg Benadryl or 100 mg of Doxylamine Succinate (Unisom). Any antihistamine really. Hydroxyzine(Vistaril) and Promethazine are really good too but they are prescription.

For me it does not work on consecutive nights. Some kind of tolerance issue so I can only use it about twice a week.

isnt 100mg benadryl too much? The leaflet of my medication says to take 50mg. I hope its okay that i take 100mg.

It's high dose for sure but I told my sleep specialist about it and also about using the same amount of doxylamine depending on which one I had available. Didn't get any flack about it.

The problem for me is that one use and then my tolerance to it shoots way up and it won't do anything for me so I have to wait a few days in between using it.

People actually abuse Benadryl in much higher amounts for it's hallucinogenic effects. I think once you get up near 200 mg it becomes some kind of psychedelic or dissociative. I don't know I never went THAT high. I donb't care to find out what tripping on Benadryl is like.

Benydryl sucks for sleep. Tolerance builds too fast.
