Has anyone received recent ECT treatments that helped them.
My son has been on a lot of different medications for Schizophrenia
over the last 14 years and still has problems
He is ready to try ECT. What do you think?

There was recently an article in the New York Times about her and her advocacy for ECT (within the past two weeks). But I have no idea whether ECT is helpful with schizophrenia. When I have been hospitalized on general psych wards (more times than I care to count), the ECT patients were all depressed. People with acute psychotic episodes seemed to be treated only with meds.
Good luck to you and your son!

Carrie Fisher wrote about her maintenance ECT as helpful, although she described transient memory loss. I found this brief article about schizophrenia and ECT. http://tinyurl.com/zjoomtf
I'm sorry your son is having a difficult time. What symptoms are you treating?

Nooooo...ECT is not for schizophrenia. If he has depression, yes. What is he on?

it is not a very loving act to put your son through ECT.
