I read somewhere that frequent intake of nicotine does increase some MAO-b, and yes i hvae noticed much of how it temporarly improves mood, but i don't smoke tobacco, its mainly a vape. But i also notice the reward stimulation of the next intake, you feel slight mood improvement for about 5 min, then it lasts for about an hour or 2 till puff, nicotine does in someways have postive effects on mood, but the intake from ciggerettes is mainly not a good way to do it and too much is not pleasant and toxic.....also coughing and getting frequent infections in lungs, (respiratory infection) increases significantly of those who smoke, i smoked marlboro for 10 years and i had quietly clear my throught around people, and got sick more easily main respiratory issues, you will cough from ciggerettes, then your lungs get used to it, but they will be prone to getting sick more easily

Hey RJ,

These studies don't say that nicotine is an MAOI.

They suggest that something else in tobacco smoke acts as an MAOI.

The studies do show that when MAO is inhibited, the effect of nicotine is increased.

well I certainly felt something after chewing nicotine gum, probably for half an hour or something. No idea if that's due to MAO activity or not.

it releases a small amount of dopamine, through stimulation of nicotinic receptors that then release dopamine, its not a big release at all, like other stimulants, just a quick dopamine kick, 2 pack a day smokers do it all the time beccause of the dopamine, but really ... the best is regulating the intake, nicotine is not pleasant at higher doses, its very unpleasant, its dose dependent

noticed a quick smoke, made me feel a bit alert, or a small mood kick, usually after stressful event i used wanna smoke to increase dopamine, but it's dirty and alot mainstream things now -
media and health organizations are anti-smoking due to health issues, its not popular like it was 50 years ago
