I am to gradually move up to 200mgs/lamictal, plus the 20mgs/Abilify. I'm feeling much better already. mood is better, agitation levels are lower, and I'm only @ 50mgs/day.
if this keeps up...I might be able to stay stable(ish) on only -2- psych drugs per day, plus all the high dose supplements (of course...).
just a random question, though...have any of you taken mirapex for either bipolar or schizophrenia w/ mood problems? depression is the main concern, so although I'm glad that lamictal is helping so much right now, I'm not so sure it will always be sufficient, and I"m not gung ho about antidepressants.
thanks.

I once tried bromocriptine (Parlodel). It helped a bit for a few days, but was far from producing a robust improvement in depression. Perhaps Mirapex (pramipexole) will help you, but, in my observations of others, I am not impressed with it for depression.
Are there any antidepressants that you think you might benefit from? What are your most prominent symptoms of depression? Have you looked into using N-acetylcysteine (NAC)? It is supposed to enhance the effects of Lamictal, although it can take several months to produce results.

it helps pull me out of slumps yet it has not really an ancutal antidepressant effect, it just seems to make the dark depression leave.. For a while i didnt like lamictal, i was on 400mg, and i was dulled out, i hated it, i was gonna stop it but i read you can't totally cut if off without side effects, so moved back to 200mg.....there's no pep up, or increase in neurotransmitters, but it keeps depression away at times, think clearly, slows electrical firing down
mirapex - yea it does improve mood, it's a dopamine agonist, but if discontinue... it's side effects, researching about mirpex... people with restless leg syndrome, said after the discontinued it, it was like withdawl, dopamine was lowered, similar to stimulant withdrawal, depression.

How do you feel at 300 mg/day? Why not try it for a week or so?

i was on 300mg for a while, it does work, its less dulling than 400, i just stayed at 200, that dose seems to just help depression in general, and help close the mood fluctuations, 300mg was more reinforcing, 400 was more for full mood stabilization, it worked but 200 is just good for pulling me out of a slump, i took it about 1 hour ago at nightly med, im more at bay
i did notice when i was on 300-400, my thinking was a bit more stable, in making decisions, less spartic from being impulsive, it made all the not-needed over thinking go away
