Meds that block most serotonin receptors?
excluding: Cyproheptadine,Metergoline and Antipsychotic Meds.
Right now im looking at Mianserin and Mirtazapine.
Mianserin seems to be better. What do you guys think? Are there any other good serotonin antagonists?

Mianserin might be more sedating than mirtazapine. You might consider combining mirtazapine with vortioxetine so that you can block 5-HT7 receptors and stimulate 5-HT1a receptors, along with inhibiting serotonin reuptake. It's an interesting idea, but I have never seen it done.

Mianserin blocks 5ht7 too .. sedating I can get used too but I dont think the weight gain is as bad on mianserin might be wrong tho. what does stimulate 5-HT1a receptors do?

whats the benefit of tampering around with your brain chemistry?

did it ever occur to you that you do not know what you need in terms of brain chemistry? You know other people need companionship and compassion. Getting these could yield much better results than tampering with your brain based on non scientific assumptions that you made yourself.

Lamdage has a point regarding the difficulty of predicting what drugs will work to treat mental illness. I don't think neuroscientists can so precisely choose which drugs to try.
You could be right, though. I wouldn't dismiss your ideas too quickly. There is a drug in France called tianeptine (Stablon) that does the opposite of SSRIs. It accelerates the reuptake of serotonin rather than inhibiting it. This presumably leaves less serotonin in the synaptic cleft (gap). Tianeptine has other properties that might account for its efficacy in treating depression, but I don't remember what they are. Keep in mind that a person can respond to one SSRI and yet have another make them feel worse. How do we explain that? Of course, there is an explanation. One day, it will become well-understood. Until then, we are limited to educated guesses and empirical observations (trial-and-error).

i mean the attitude that there must be a chemical fix for your problems. This would be something that scientists study with RATS. Dont make yourself your own lab rat. you are not a scientist nor a rat.

> - ScottSSRI they decrease SERT ( serotonin transporter) in the first few weeks but after 6 weeks it starts to increase SERT above baseline and people feel relief . This would mean less serotonin is better since increasing SERT leads to less active serotonin.
Anywhow I have tried various methods .. Increase MAO.. Increase SERT... many methods... I have came to the conclusion I either have too many serotonin receptors or sensitive serotonin receptors IE they dont get disentized.. So this would mean my only soloution is to take an serotonin antagonist . Hence this thread.
So I have found the soloution to my problem.. My only question is is there a better serotonin antagonsit than Mianser or Mirtazapine? From what I can tell thats a no.. So im going for Mianserin....
I dont care what that lamdage guy says he doesent know my situation : Im not delusional.. I didnt come to the conclusion that serotonin is my problem in a day.. Its been years I have been trying various methods ...Yes I tried tianeptine and it gave me some relief.... But my serotonin receptors need to be blocked for FULL relief.

Why? Am I gonna wait and hope someone else cures me? nobody is gonna do that. I have to find my own solution to my problems which I have done. People with your thinking get nowhere waiting for someone to give you something on a plate. No thank you I wont adopt your kind of thinking.

I think I understand your rationale. It is quite sophisticated. Perhaps the whole synaptic transducing communication system is a complex set of regulators that act to approximate a value in the fashion of a thermostat with negative feedback loops.
Would chronic blockade of 5-HT2/3 postsynaptic receptors result in their upregulation? Just curious. What about heteroreceptors?
Effexor is one of my favorite drugs. How did you react to Effexor at dosages at or above 300 mg/day?

> - ScottI dont know it was a long time ago since I took effexor. I took it for like 2 weeks if not less.. felt nothing.. maybe more nauseous and I felt like the type of high I imagine you would get from smoking weed.
why would chronic blockade lead to upregulation? my serotonin receptors dont get disentized anyway so it will always stay the same. I imagine for normal people it would cause upregulation.
im not an expert at all when it comes to these stuff thats why I came here to ask for help maybe someone can teach me something. I know there are serotonin receptors all over the fear regions like the amygdala so if mianserin can block the serotonin receptors it can decrease amygdala activity and reduce stress/fear.
I know what a autoreceptor is it regulates neurontransmitters so you dont get too much right? but what is a heteroreceptors?

You know i too thought i know stuff and that i would cure my depression and social anxiety with Nardil.
I uncured myself with that and now i have a psychotic disorder ontop of everything else.
This is the end of the thread.
