I've been wondering, i don't know if posters know about doxipen for insomnia and as a antidepressant. It's both, in treating, i knew someone who took it at rehab, at bedtime. It's used as a sleep aid, the only thing i've taken is trazadone. I don't like trazadone, it stones me out totally and works diffrent than doxipen.
Does anyone know if it's safe to take with Prozac? on the search engones it says it's not recommended because of serotonin sndrome. But effexor and remeron [Mirtazapine) can be taken together. Does anyone know if it's safe to take with prozac as a sleep aid?

No, I don't know anything about that.I did try doxipen and didn't like it. I preferred trimipramine by far.

Yeah, you can take it with prozac. SSRIs and TCAs are combined all the time. Just start at a low dose.
Doxepin really worked well for my mother, but it can have a lot of side effects (particularly sedation).

yes, i would have to go on low dose, because im on maximum of prozac. I've been on trazadone - it's also an antideperessant but it's so sedating, and even when im going to bed, i didntt like taking it. Doxipen is an open thought for me

Yeah, I didn't mind doxapin, but it can make you feel a bit wonkey (at least until you adjust to the antihistamine effects)

they say the max is 80mg, but i read somewhere that some doctors will go up to 120mg (3 40mg capsules) for treatment resistant depression. There's a couple cases or psych stories/reports that they have increased it to 120mg. That would be great if i could just take 2 in the morning and 1 at night for sleep. Prozac is activating and they say it's not good for night time, but i've gotten used to it, i can feel the serotonin effect and some norepinephrine activity. I'll just say from what i read, they say fluoxetine is lesser effective than other ssri's and takes at least 6 weeks to work. But i just stayed on it, because i got used to the feeling. That would be soo good if i could take 1 prozac at night with 80 in the morning. But most doctors stick to the medical maximmum dose

there's some day's i get depressed, like today, i forced myself i have coffee about an hour ago. It picked me up, but still i get depressed on prozac. I'll feel the antidepressant effect at times, then there's slumps and dark days. My previous doctor said it's low brain voltage, or requirng stimulation to move out of it.
