How has any one taken gaba tablets for insomnia

I have used Gaba, but it was in a combination formula. the one I used is called Nightrest by Source Naturals and has other amino acids and herbs in it. Taking two pill gives you 100mg Gaba. I found this combination knocked me out at one time and then did nothing at another time. I have heard Gaba alone is very effective. I am always searching for alternatives to get me to stay asleep.
