They weren't treated with B12. It was a naturalistic prospective study. In other words, all they did was monitor depressives over a period of time, while they were (presumably) receiving other treatments for depression. Those subjects with higher B12 levels simply did better than those with low levels. Here's the abstract:

author of medical textbooks and popular vitamin books submitted a letter to the lancet about 10 15 years ago about the use of b12 in his park ave psychiatric practice

he found that he could lower neurosis scales to normal by injecting hydroxcobalamin to the dose at which his patients reported feeling better....when he took them off the b12 their scores went back to their personal baselines

i have searched and cannot find the article, maybe you can

as an aside, if you can find the very first edition of his first vitamin book, i think it was mega nutrients, you will read some amazing things about his personal story and what he used to get better..........it is only in the very first edition, and i assume it was edited out in later versions to make him seem less controversial and more saleable.....check you local library, that's where i found it

his credentials are exceptional

keep up the healty sckepticim,it's good for all of us
