St. John's Wort has GABA uptake inhibition properties, therefore increasing GABA in the synapse. St. John's has a broad spectrum inhibition that also includes glutamune, so who knows if they cancel each other out in some way. St. John's is supposed to have sedating and anti-anxiety effects, therefore maybe the GABA effect is a major player.
Valerian also has GABA uptake inhibiting, GABA releasing, and a third GABA altering function that I can't remember.
I've read that passion flower's active consituents might bind to benzodiazepine receptors on the GABA terminal.

I've also found that both of these supplements (Picamilon and L-theanine) have relaxing effects, and assume this is a result of their effects on GABA receptors. I find them pretty mild but they do help.
I particularly like L-theanine (100-200 mg), and there's some evidence that it also boosts the immune system.

Chew on the contents of a green tea bag for 30 minautes. Tastes discusting but it really gives you a gaba boost. Also increases norepinephrine. Who knows if they cancel eachother out.

Yes, I do that all the time. It is many times more potent than just drinkinkg the tea. Give it a try at least once. It is very calming and paradoxically very alerting at the same time.

Hi Linkadge,

Do you remove the green tea from the tea bag or do you chew it while it is still in the bag?
