My 6 year old daughter was just diagnosed with innatentive ADD. The doc wants to start with non-amphetamine based meds first, at the beginning of the next school year. I was on Ritalin for 7 years and I'm concerned. I heard that Omega-3 fatty acids are good for ADD. Any thoughts?

GOOD DOC' !!! Congratz on who you found, socialdeviantjeff.
i am adult(on a good day) inattentiveADD.
NOTHING ...EVER... has been as good for me and my "ADD condition" as Omega- 3 fatty acids.i first had to learn not to 'overdo' my intake. (!)
Then i had to learn the most wholesome sources.
Then i had to include palatable and 'unnoticable' ways of taking my optimal amount per every 1-2 days or so.ohmygawd, it was SO preferable to any/all RXs ~ever. That you love your daughter this much:
--> i salute you <--
(a first here, BTW)Kudos! to your Pediatric Doc discovery.
Also consider that there might be a possibitlty that more and more children are born with -what i call "simultaneous thinking" for reasons within the progress of evolution and enlightenment. IE: Let's support them & that difference.
More than a mobius $0.02
EscherP.S. if you want some good book resources for foods, suppliments, etc. , please post.
