Yohimbe as a mild CNS stimulant?

Posted by Ame Sans Vie on March 23, 2004, at 2:57:40

Just wondering if anyone out there has tried this (or the prescription alkaloid of yohimbe -- yohimbine) as a mild stimulant? I just bought a bottle of yohimbe extract capsules yesterday (made by Solaray; contains 135mg yohimbe [containing 2% yohimbine = 2.7mg] and 210mg butcher's broom). I just woke up an hour ago and took four of these (along with 60mg Adderall XR and 3mg Klonopin) and thusfar I can definitively say it sure beats coffee! There's a mild euphoria that is distinct from that provided by the Adderall and a pleasant, non-jittery stimulation.

So, anyone else?

Hi. Yeah i use it occasionally-- about 3 times a month or so on average. It is a tremendous (& unique) stimulant. i find it to be quite anxiety-provoking though, in certain ways. You just have to be careful because it can really increase your heart rate & what not.

Thanks for the response! I decided to try a couple of the capsules a few days ago -- 420mg butcher's broom and 135 yohimbe bark extract (5.4mg yohimbine total). If it weren't for the nausea I felt during the first thirty minutes or so after taking it, I'd say it was an overall pleasant experience... I may try making a ginger/chamomile/thyme infusion to chase the capsules with next time to ward off the upset stomach. I checked my B/P and pulse several times throughout the experience and the maximum measurement was 118/75; 75bpm. So I suppose, at that dose, I can consider the cardio thing a non-issue for me. I'll still monitor my vitals the next few times I do it though.
