Hello,
Has anyone ever tried the over the counter supplement "SAMe" (S-Adenosyl Methionine) for depression?? Was it of any use??
Did it also help anxiety?
I have read on the net that it is considered to be approximately 15% more effective than SSRIs.
For those who have tried it were there any side effects? Was it activating/stimulating or was is sedating?
I'm considering trying it as I'm sick of the side effects from the SSRIs, so any info would be appreciated!
Thanks!

I am in the same boat. I am sick of taking the prescription meds. I have just started my third day of SAM-e. I had trouble slepping last night, but I am not convinced that it was all the SAM-e.
I have anxiety/depression and since I have anxiety, I have read that starting at the lowest dosage then increase gradually. (200 mg for the first couple of days then up the 400mg then more if needed) I have been on Prozac (fade-out), Zoloft (fade-out), Buspar (yuk!!), Lexapro (felt like I was drugged for 3 months!). So I am going the natural way. I have read very good things about it. I am willing to give it a chance.> Hello,

I have heard that your B-complex vitamins and folate are what you should take with it. Fish oils are a type of omega-3 fatty acid. What does it help the SAM-e do?
