L-tryptophan update

Posted by LOOPS on May 8, 2004, at 18:37:45

Hello -

just wanted to mention that last night was my first 'social outing' since taking l-tryptophan, surrounded by friends but also lots of other people I didn't really know.

I found during the evening it was much easier to relax and open up to people, as I was not anxious in the slightest. I didn't even feel like drinking very much, as felt I didn't really need it.

I am starting to wonder if I have hit the jackpot of supplements for my particular imbalance problem.

I'm glad you're keeping us updated. It kind of gives me a perspective on what to expect.I recently ordered the ultra pure stuff from that GP site and a capsule filler. If possible, I'd like to know what else you take along with the Tryp. to get good results.

Thanks.

Yeah sure -

other stuff I'm taking is:

magnesium chelate 100mg x 3 daily
inositol 500mg x 6 daily
niacinamide 500mg x 3 daily
B-50 complex x 1 daily
fish oil 1000mg x 3-4 daily
multi x 1 daily
Bioendurance (ALC, ALA, COQ10) x 1 daily (split into thirds)
vitamin C 1000mg x 2 daily
gaba 750mg x 1 daily at night
valerian complex x 2 daily at night
milk thistle standardized x 3 daily
Siberian Ginseng 28:1 extract as needed

I also drink various herbal teas in an attempt to clear up my acne and eczema; and also to avoid the dreaded coffee, which just makes things worse!

The most important stuff out of the above is the B vitamins to support the tryptophan turning into serotonin, the magnesium to help with the anxiety, and the inositol and fish oil to support the whole process in my brain. The bioendurance is great for my concentration as well.

I think that's enough stuff.

Hello again -

does anyone know, is it ok to eat a couple of slices of toast and honey straight after I've taken the tryptophan? Will it make any difference in how much tryp goes to my brain?

**I think I responded to another thread on this, but carbs help aminos, especially tryp. Avoid taking aminos with protein.
