Hi all,
I've been on Parnate for a few months now and *while it works* it is an excellent AD for me. The problem is that after a few weeks it poops out and I have to raise the dose to reclaim the effect. I started on 30mg/day, now I'm on 120mg/day ! (the highest my pdoc will allow).
I read somewhere about a pdoc who used 1g of inositol/day to prevent parnate poop out in one of his patients so...
1) Has anyone tried augmenting an MAOI with inositol?
2) How much should be used (parnate is fickle stuff)
3) What is the idea or theory behind inositol preventing parnate poop out. Many thanks.

I would try inositol if I were you.
I would try folic acid (1mg) first though if you havn't already. Much cheaper and possably as effective.
Inositol is involved in the sensitivity of serotonin and dopamine receptors.
It acts as well as a second messenger to the serotonin system, ie after the receptor is activated inositol is employed to carry certain messages.

> NohopeJust wanted to add that it's Dr. Jay Goldstein who recommends this. He recommends 1 gram q.i.d. (I think that means 1 gram 4x a day as opposed to 250 mg. 4x a day, doesn't it? )
