What I'd really like to try is a low dose of a equal reputake inhibitor (ie amitryptaline) with
tyrosine/5-htp.

Hi Linkadge,
I have been taking a very low dose of L-Tyrosine (250mg twice a day - a.m. and noon) with nortriptyline (which I take in the evening). I have just ordered some DL-Phenylalanine, which I will use in the place of the L-Tyrosine once my order arrives. And, I am thinking about also trying a small dose of 5-HTP (50mg max) at bedtime as a sleep aid.

I took 5htp with desipramine for a period, when I first started the desipramine--I had a spell of insomnia. But I stopped once the medication began to work and the insomnia subsided. It did help me sleep; perhaps it even helped a tad for anxiety, but hard to say....
