Many of its medicinal properties are probably due to its substance p inhibition.

Have you tried it? If so, how much should one take and what kind, etc.?

I used to have a little, cheap juice extractor and would use fresh ginger in apple-based drinks. I wonder how that compares with ginger extracts.

Not sure. I am taking 1000mg of an extract (5% gingerol I believe).
