Selegiline, nausea?

Posted by mogger on August 20, 2005, at 12:27:26

does anyone who takes Selegiline has occassional bouts of nausea after being on it for a while? Usually it is ok but occassionally it causes shakiness and nausea. It could be a symptom of Bipolar I. Which leads me to another question. Has anyone who has Bipolar I experienced, when they crash into depression, actually feel nausea or physically sick? Many thanks,

How much are you taking? I can imagine shakiness at certain doses, 5mg/d might make me a bit shakey. After a sleepless night moreso.

But nausea is not something I've ever had from it.

It is actually a family member who is taking it, 40mg to be precise! She is fine most of the time but when she hits a depression it makes her nauseaous and shaky. I wonder if that is the depression and not the med. It has helped her greatly. Can depression do that to you?

Wow, 40mg/d! I imagine it's a whole new ball game at that level.

Does your friend sleep well enough, all things considered?

Someone on the med board was on 60mg/d for a while, but I never found out why he stopped.

She does, she takes Seroquel to sleep which is great. She also takes Phenylalanine which boosts it I think. We shall see, she has been doing well but she has had a little bit of a regression and I am worried the medication is starting to fail after 5 months. I am keeping my fingers crossed,
thanks for the info.,

Can selegeline cause nausea? I've been incapacitated from nausea for a long while now, no one knows why, and my god, I wonder if it's the selgeline!

Thank you, I'll try to pay attention to this variable, but I'm on the patch so it's trickier. I feel nauseous before, during, and after eating. I may ask to go back to pills. I think they actually had fewer problems for me (despite dietary restrictions) and were more effective.
