Zinc and Vit C worked

to combat my sinus, allergy, cold like symptoms as it WAY shortened the duration of suffering (I HATE being congested) I normally experience.

My history with tolerance of and finding relief with alternative ideas has not gone well but this, well this worked... much to my surprise and delight.

As a physician I routinely check the zinc level of my patients who have psychiatric problems. Overall about 80% are low in zinc. Many of them are high in copper which in turn causes depression.Taking zinc at a dose of 25 or 50mg of elemental zinc daily will bring down the copper and improve the mood quite often. In pregnancy a woman`s copper level doubles and if it does not go down after delivery post-natal depression can be quite a problem.

Thanks Ed, i read an article which stated that ECT and the drug Tofranil robustly increased zinc levels. I took 50 mgs. yesterday and today with "c', magnesium and b-6, is that a good combo?...john [i have ocd and dysthmia as well as allergies]

> Those who have OCD are quite difficult to treat with nutrients although sometimes it works really well. See my website at www.omega3.20megsfree.com for details .Vit C,zinc and B6 are useful to almost all psychiatric conditions

Sam-E may help but it is expensive and some find it unpleasant to take.Methionine is slower to act but seems to have less side-effects. SAM-E is unsuitable for those with a history of Bipolar Disorder.I usually add nutrients to SSRIs for those with OCD or Histadelia.
