Natural side effect relief

Posted by crystee on May 11, 2006, at 22:06:01

I was wondering if anyone knew what supplements would help to relieve some of the side effects of anticonvulsants, Lamictal in particular. I have heard Biotin and Zinc are helpful. Any response is appreciated! :)

Since everybody gets different side effects on lamictal, I was wondering what are the side effects you are concerned with?

I am concerned with muscle stiffness/achiness, loss of sexual interest, brittle nails and hair with some hair loss, and fatigue.

That's a tough one. Even if I knew of something that could help, I would be hesitant to mix it with a med like lamictal.

As I was looking at the side effects, I couldn't help but notice that they are common symptoms of thyroid problems. I wonder. Have you had a full thyroid panel done? Not just the basic TSH.

Off the top of my head, and I could be way off, you could try tyrosine for its thyroid enhancing effects and antifatigue effects and antidepressant effects. Start conservatively, like maybe 250mg in the morning. Maybe 500mg the next day. Feel it out from there. Usually people take it twice a day. It is a natural amino acid found in protein, it is cheap and easy to try. Results are usually extremely fast, like within the first day or few days. It is converted to dopamine and norepinephrine and thyroid hormones.
