Lebedouriella seseloides

Posted by Declan on September 29, 2006, at 17:40:16

My TCM person Rxd this in a formula containing astragalus and atractyloides macrocephela as well.

I've never had problems with astragalus or atractylodes before (so far as I know).

Anyway it's making me feel spooky and spacy (happens easily with me) and I wonder if it's the lebedouriella.

I was given it for sinus/immune problems.

Any ideas?

Sorry, absolutely no idea, but it sounds interesting, I just googled it.

Man, there are so many good herbs out there....

I rather wish I'd gotten into herbs and research and things (its really interesting) rather than bloomin' geology. The only places I can work (with any money) are oil companies, mining companies, blah blah blah, AND you have to go on fieldtrips, something I used to have a great passion for, now they're just a source of anxiety for me (I have to go out of my crockery and hand washing comfort zone).

Still I suppose I'm only a masters student still, there's plenty of time to get into environmental (notice the 'mental' in there) things....

You could grow golden root on a little Siberian concession.

Sounds nice...not sure I'd want to live in Siberia through. Northern Finland maybe.

Want other herbs and things are you taking at the mo?

I have mixed feelings of shame and pride about this list. Most of these are from Life Extension.

Life Extension Mix
Life Extension Booster
Co enzyme Q10
r alpha lipoic acid
natural prostate formula
resveratrol
fish oil
Arthromax (glucosamine, boswellia, flavanoids)
alpha ketoglutarate
pyridoxal 5 phosphate
5 hydroxy trytophan
inositol hexaniacinate
calcium and magnesium
skullcap, albizia, euphrasia, magnolia, golden rod, reishi
betaine HCl
Vitamin C
Withania, bacopa
green tea
tianeptine
Valium
10 micrograms of methadone

As I've been laughing and typing this up I have been thinking that I couldn't imagine you having this Rxd on the NHS. Maybe the Australian health system is OK (in parts). The bloke I see is at
http://www.nutritionmedicine.org He has actually recommended (most of) the above list.

There's supposed to be a place in Siberia it gets so cold the ground cracks with terrible noises and birds fall dead in flight.

Oh my goodness!

Thats a great sounding mix!! And alot of pills to take....

My goodness I don't know where to start!

I had one GP who suggested SJW - thats about as 'alternative' as they get. Wow, thats amazing to think that GPs in Oz are knowledgeable about 'alernative' things. Really great.

Man, you can't get anything out of a GP in the UK unless its an SSRI (or somesuch equivalent) or TCA.

Anything stronger you need to see a pdoc. And that is hard to do. And even then they are very very conservative by American standards and pretty unknowledgable to be honest. It is so bad in the UK....

I'm so jealous. I can't even get my hands on a benzo let alone tiap. or methadone (BTW are you using that as an AD type thing or something - if you don't mind me asking - and can I try some please?)

Sigh. If I won the lottery I would see one of those pdocs in the US who knows all about 'alternative'and conventional treatments.

I saw a nutritionist once. She was pretty unhelpful - well she didn't prescribe or recommend anything that I didn't know already and all that it amounted to was fish oil, high strengh multi and Vit C and some extra chronium type thing. All I which I knew already, but due to my aforementioned fear of poisening myself, could never really prescribe or take myself. I haven't even implented her strategy. Sigh.

Anyway the most success I'm having is with my herbalist - she's a really lovely lady and I 'connect' with her. She really does treat 'the whole person' rather than the symptoms, if you know I mean. I kinda didn't really believe the holistic blurb in her leaflet but the contrast between her and the pdoc is amazing. I usually burst into tears after a pdoc appointment (which are slightly redunant and really, in the UK, they're just pill-pushers - only there to check on how you're doing with the latest AD/whatever. And as I'm not taking any conventional ADs, we don't do anything useful - anyway I'm in Finland now, so no more useless NHS pdocs!)

So, anyway I'm babbling away!

It gets pretty cold here too. Temperatures in Jan/Feb/March are kinda -20șC but thats not as cold as in Siberia. Thank god for the North Atlantic Drift! I was just reading about that earlier, actually. If it were to ever shut down (which it might do with global warming), Europe would have winters as cold as Siberia.....
