I've Started L-theanine Today

Posted by janetlee on November 22, 2006, at 20:53:42

I went to the health store and like an idiot, started crying cuz my anxiety was so bad. The man was really nice though...sigh! I told him that I had L-theanine at home but wasn't sure about taking it. He said it would be okay and should help me. I also bought some progesterone cream, as I am 42 and do believe I'm premenopausal, so my hormones may be imbalanced. Heavens knows I hope this helps...

L-Theanine is quite subtle. Whenever I use it I normally put 50-100mg in a cup of green tea (green tea contains a little L-Theanine) and take it that way, it seems to help just a little more.

Have you tried taking Magnesium as well? I find Magnesium Citrate about 300mg is calming.

Just be a little cautious with l theanine,it can sometimes cause a worsening of mood before it sets in as a more calming agent.

Also what i liked to do is actualy open the capsule, and pour it under my tongue and let it dissolve, this method usualy bypasses a lot of absorbtion issues that can reduce or slow the effect.

If you have a benzo,id recomend using them both until you see how you react to l theanine. Also if your opening the capsule, try using a partial of the tab, more is not better always with this supplement.

Good luck !!!!

Thanks for the tips. I've had another looooong day of anxiety. I can barely eat when it's like this....I've been painting the living room and being busy helps, but does not make me forget the anxiety. I dread getting up every morning and starting another day. I do have xanax, but am trying to not use it. I haven't used any of it since 10/20/06. If things don't get back on track, I may have to though. :(

Personaly i dont think you should feel bad using xanax, dont beat urself up.People smoke cigarettes with tons of toxins and they are some of the people to critque the use of drugs.

Dont suffer when u dont have to,use it so your head is straight so u can actualy sit down and think of a plan. Also as i stated id really recomend a low dose benzo with the use of l theanine.

Your suffering is real, you shouldent have to paint a room in a maniac fashion to keep ur mind busy from suffering,ur deserve peace.Just my opinion, but your not the kind of people who usualy get into trouble with benzos,u need them, dont suffer.Im sorry you have, like i said try the l thenaine under the tongue,on a empty stomach, with a low dose benzo.Give it about 3 hrs.

I was painting cuz it was already preplanned. It was at least something to distract me a little. We've been running errands today and I am still a wreck, but I try to go on ahead and do what I have to do. About the benzos, I hold back from taking it cuz my doc prefers to not prescribe them unless it's for a short time. It is getting harder to find a doc that isn't afraid to prescribe them. I don't understand why the Paxil CR 25mg helped for 2 weeks and now isn't doing so. I've been on it for almost 6 weeks now. I'm worried.
Thanks all,
janet
