So I saw an article about Chromium Picolinate helping atypical depression and thought I'd give it a try. Dosage is 200mcg. I was aiming for 600 per day, but was only able to take 2oomcg per day for the past four days. Each time I take I take it I get this really, tired heavy feeling almost immediately, and I feel like I just want to stare into space w/out moving my body at all. I had another similar feeling once when I accidentally doubled my lexapro dose on one night, then forgot to take it at all the next night--I woke up feeling weird, almost like it was difficult to move and my body was freezing up on me.
It makes me wonder if the C.P. is doing something weird to my dopamine levels? I guess I'll just stop taking up. Curious to know if anyone else had similar effects? I was hoping the CP would help with energy and knock out my carb cravings.

Ive read CP has effects on the serotonin 2a receptor, which apparently may have to do with its antidepressant effects.
Serotonin 2a supposedly is connected to dopamine levels, so what you're saying might be logical.
Don't know though... there's not enough science on CP to even make a good judgement. Id say this: if CP were so good for atypical depression, wouldnt more people be using it???
I read those studies and I think to myself: so why isnt this mineral more popular? Hmmm...

Hi butternut,
I've been taking chromium picolinate for the past month. I can't say I've noticed any of the effects that you have. It does cause nausea for me, though. I've certainly noticed an effect in reduction of food cravings, but not a lift in mood. I have taken it in the past, and I had exactly the same effect then- but it pooped out after a while.
