I've had good results from 6 weeks of daily supplementation with Jarrow brands:
-CDP-choline (cytidine 5-diphosphocholine), 250 mg
-Alpha GPC 300 mg (L-alphaglycerylphosphosphorylcholine)It may have even helped with my prozac withdrawal, as SSRI withdrawal "produces an 'anticholinergic rebound,' which is an interruption in production of the key neurotransmitter acetylcholine." If I don't take it, I definitely notice! Increased fatigue and irritability. (Link to quote: http://bipolar.about.com/cs/antidep/a/0207_ssridisc1.htm)
Brief Background: About 6 weeks ago, I started Lamictal 25mgs and began to withdraw from Prozac 20mgs. 3-4 week taper from Prozac, now 2-3 weeks off. In spite of a couple of low moments (typically 1-2 days after having a drink), I feel better than I have in years.

In reply to Choline Supplementation: so far, so good, posted by Joe Bloe on March 29, 2007, at 11:20:29
That is very interesting. I have always had residual withdrawl symptoms from stopping SSRI's. I noticed that choline has helped significantly too.
I find it very calming. I don't really noticed that it is depressing. Some people can have a depression response to choline supplementation.
I find choline works well with vitamin C. Choline makes up some 30% of grey matter (or something). Vitamin C also factors into grey matter somehow.
I became interested in this, seeing as both bipolar and depression are associated with progressive deficits in grey matter. Thats not to say such supplements would necesarily prevent such wanning, but who knows.
