Hi All,
I recently moved and realized that I have enough tea to last me 2 pots a day for the next 3 years.Any idea when green, black, loose, bagged, herbal, teas start to stale (or worse spoil?)
Most of them are airtight packed...

Wikipedia also mentions shelf life briefly >

A google search for 'Tea shelf life' will procure more results as well.

Most informative, thanks nolvas
So, my urgency of drinking the teas is that the white tea needs to go first (already knew this). I've got a ceylon white tea flavored with peach and ginger that is absolutely delicious.
Followed by the more leafy looking green teas like dragonwell (lung-ching) and some jasmine tea that I got from the Chinese merchant a few months ago.
Tossing the green tea that's older than a year. I have too much anyways.
Tightly rolled green tea like gunpowder green next (I've got a lot of those- like jasmine pearls and such)... then
Oolong (I've got 3 kinds. a greener one, a smokey dark one --had a pot this afternoon-- and one with a mild amber brew)
darjeeling
Followed by the china black, the earl grey. etc.
AND... I vaguely remember having a lot of yerba mate from this kick I was on after getting back from Argentina last year. I bought about 4 kg a few months ago. This stuff needs to be used up sometime this year too. yum.
I'm going to be so caffeinated, won't need to buy coffee for a long long while. Need to find my travel tea mug though. Would you believe I've got a travel maté cup? It's the coolest thing. the herb on the top, the water down below, a straw draws the water from the resevoir into the herb, then out to the drinking straw....
Perfect thing to go with my super-sedating geodon. ahhh
thanks again. sorry for long reply. I just got excited, that's all...

Cool, glad I helped. I drink decaffeinated green tea and herbal teas.
This is the end of the thread.
