My new supplement trial

Posted by Jamal Spelling on August 30, 2007, at 7:21:23

Yesterday I began using a supplement containing the following daily dosages:

5-HTP: 100mg
L-Tyrosine: 500mg
L-Phenylalanine: 800mg
St John's Wort: 500mg
Theanine: 200mg
Vitamin B3: 30mg
Vitamin B6: 30mg
Vitamin B5: 50mg
Folic acid: 1500mcg
Vitamin B12: 1000mcg
Panax Ginseng: 80mg
Ginkgo Biloba: 80mg

Wow, I feel good today! I woke up this morning a half-hour earlier than usual, feeling refreshed. Normally I wake up feeling tired and groggy.

Initially I wanted to buy SAMe instead, but the shop assistant insisted that this product was better for the symptoms that I described to him. I hope the feeling will last. If I could go through life feeling this way, I would be a happy person!

Hi Jamal,

What is the name of this product, if you don't mind my asking?

Is it designed specifically to address depression or other "mentally interesting" diagnoses, or is it a general supplement for brain health?

I hope you are still feeling the positive effects.

Thanks,

Noddy

Hi Noddy

The product is called "Naturally High" and made by a company called Solal Technologies. It purports to increase the levels of serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine in your brain and hence to reduce mild depression and anxiety.

Unfortunately, I only felt good while using it for the first day. Perhaps it was some sort of psycho-somatic response to the knowldege that I was using this product, and to the expectation that my life was going to improve.

I have since added SAMe 200 mg/day to the regimen. If I decide to continue with this aproach, then next time I will rather use TMG instead of SAMe.

I do seem more energetic, and more resilient to negative input (like when people are mean to me). I keep hearing music in my mind, which is a good sign. When I am depressed, I become a-musical.

Linkadge has peviously described an interesting phenomenon that he experienced when using lithium. He said that he saw faces on cars, electronic equipment etc., formed by their headlights, grills, switches etc. I've experienced it as well these past few days. I'd be driving and thinking to myself: wow, that car looks angry, or that car has a nice smile, etc.

Anyway, I will give this combo a 1 month trial and then see from there.

Jamal

And my appetite has decreased somewhat.
