I was wonderiing if there is anything I can take with Marplan to help with my anxiety. I've only been on it a week and a half and already my anxiety is out of control. I'm taking Ativan also but that doesn't seem to help and I hate to up the dose.
Is there anything "natural" that could help me???
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks,
Brooke

Hmmm. Tough question. It is uncharted water when you are messing with an MAOI.
For starters maybe stick with things that are natural to the body. Such GABA, taurine, glycine, magnesium. One or several. But no matter, go real low on dosing until you know what it feels like and can catch any adverse reactions in a mild form. Try one at a time. Then mix and match as you see fit.
I have been brave in my years of testing different things, but I'm not sure I would have ever mixed an MAOI with an herb. If I did, maybe I might have considered a bit of Passion Flower, Ashwaghanda, Skullcap, Lemon Balm, or Valerian. I surely would not have done more than 1/4 of a capsule to start with until I saw what it felt like.

Yes, I did mean vitamins, not herbs. I guess I should have been more specific. I've been taking Dr Weil's B-Complex for months but it hasn't really done anything for my anxiety. Is magnesium used for that? I bought some but haven't tried it yet. I wanted to try Inositol but my doctor said not to right now. Is there an interaction between the two?
Thanks for your help.

The natural substances to look at are:
Gaba
Magnesium
Taurine
Niacinamide
InositolJust type in the name of the substance and anxiety in a net search and you'll find tons of useful info on them all.
For fast results, look at GABA, taurine, magnesium. For slower results look at inositol, niacinamide. A combo of a couple of your favorites, after individual trials, might be better than any one alone.
