Getting testing done-ADVICE what supps to quit!!

Posted by Jimmyboy on October 15, 2007, at 16:52:15

Hi,

I am goig to a place similar to the Pfieffer Institute in a few weeks and getting a very extensive panel of tests done and plan on pursuing a more diet / supplement plan on treating my problems.

I am currently taking Vit. C, Zinc, Niacin, folic acid, B6, manganese.

I am worried about the methylation and pyroluria tests being skewed if I am taking stuff to try to help what I suspect may be tied to that. any advice on this issue> It would be a shame to get a false positive because I was taking supps. Thanks for the help

JB

I have heard that taking the b6 and zinc can screw up the results. I would call the center and ask them about it.

Yeah, like was already mentioned, call the center and ask their advice.

Regardless of their advice, I personally would stop all supplements a week before the appointment, or at least a couple days minimum.

It would be nice to see your true baseline. Supplements can indeed throw your test results off, in either a negative or a postitive direction. I think the recommendations for which supps to take and what doses will be a lot more accurate if you are not taking supps to start with.

I like these places that test people extensively and then treat it better than guessing. Still though, regardless of how much testing they do, it seems like something always gets missed. For example, say maybe all your essential metals and vitamins were low across the board and they give you megadoses of them. But did they check for gluten intolerance, candida overgrowth, colitis, allergies, and such that would put the intestines in a constant state of turmoil causing the malabsorption? Kind of like pouring more gasoline into a leaking gas tank when maybe it might worth taking a look at the leak?
