I don't know. My own experience is that amino acids are tricky. They can initially fix something, but then build up too much. I have experienced that with 5htp, tyrosine, dlpa, whey protien powder, rice protein powder, and soy protein powder. With me it is a fine balance that is totally not manageable.
In natural books that talk about treatments with amino acids they make the point that too much is just as bad as not enough, no matter what they amino acid is. With bulk amino acids, your natural unique biochemistry may be discarding some of the excesses but unable to discard some others, leading to imbalances. Pure theory on my part.
Methionine is a prominent amino acid in bulk powders. It is a sulfur molecule that stirs up stored toxins such as lead, mercury and arsenic. It is a toxic world we live in. I wonder if you have, or ever had, amalgam teeth fillings. Anyway, with extra methionine beyond a normal diet stored toxins in fat will be stirred up and recirculated throught your body and brain faster than they can be excreted. Psychiatric worseing is the primary symptom. Likely? I don't know. Just a thought.
In any case, I have found amino acids tricky. They can be wonderful and aweful all within a very short time frame. Don't know why.
In any case, I really don't know. Just thinking out loud. Amino acids are tricky. They say you just store or excrete whatever excess you take in. I don't buy that.

After 1 and a half days off of protein powder because I ran out of the so called ''good'' brand instead of the mammoth 2500 which somehow doesn't help me gain any weight....
I finally then tried protein powder again after buying some more. Two scroops. which is maybe 75mg sucralose and bunch of amino acids... and I think 50g of protien...
and within a short time i would have such a headache.... and feel quite worse in my mood... as if i was more depressed, i didn't feel like talking to people, after being in a social mood from my gabapentin and ritalin etc.... i suddenly was feeling worse. I didn't know why and then I thought ''oh it must be the d--- protein powder no wonder''....
and this worsening effect lasted for around 2-3 hours until I began to feel better again.
Like what on earth??
I guess I need to try a brand with only protein in it and none of that fancy amino acid trash...
ugh....

and the mammoth 2500 doesn't give me the huge burning head pains and worsening of depressive symptoms that the ''WHEY'' garbage does. Funny how the Whey is so much more expensive too. This cheap large 4kg Tub of Mammoth 2500 that cost me 40 dollars doesn't seem to worsen depression, maybe a little, it is very hard to tell.
But without it I dont look as healthy, and it is difficult to maintain a healthy weight. I am 5'7 and weigh 132 right now. My Ideal should b 140+. I am small frame and small bone structure but I should weight more.
And the ritalin I take and other meds... really kill my appetite and even though i force myself 3-5 meals a day I still have so much trouble keeping my weight.
So I pretty much Need a protein shake or something that can help me gain weight.
and i want my darn sex drive back. i was a sexual animal for like 3 months before january started. and i dont know how to get it back

Known for worsening depression?
The Mammoth 2500 brand I take now is just sugar as it's sweetener... none of that fancy sucralose crap.
And this brand which is ''not a whey'' brand doesn't make me feel as bad. Not nearly. in fact it seems to have little negative effect on my mind. I mean I took this stuff before for so many months and I felt great.
Maybe season symptoms are just dragging me down to the floor.
My Motivation is low, my sex drive is low except late evenings and nights, my interest in everything is low...
ugh.
