Hi,
Someone once posted on one of the boards about his relative who used to suffer from schizophrenia but no longer does after having taken certain supplements. Does anyone remember something like that (several years ago, perhaps)? I tried the search engine but found nothing.
Thanks,
Nellie.

I don't recall those posts. Some theories say schizophrenia can result from excess copper accumulation. Zinc supplements will reverse that in a couple months. Schiz might also have to do with excess glutamate activity, in which GABA or glycine supplements might help. There is probably a lot of oxidative damage going on too, requiring healthy doses of antioxidants.
I do not know of any rememdy for schiz that works all the time or for everyone. That being said, the most helpful supplements I can think of at this moment are:
Zinc 25mg-50mg
Selenium 200mcg-300mcg
Vitamin C 1000mg-3000mg
Vitamin E 400IU
Magnesium Glycinate or Citrate (titrate up to diarrhea)Other possibles:
Fish oil
Flax oil
Lithium Orotate
GABA
GlycineIt would be interesting to hear about that previous post to see what actually worked with someone.

1) 5-htp
2) high dose of glycine (30gr-60gr per day showed signifcant improvment for cognitive and negative problems clinical trials)
3)omega3 (EPA+DHA)

I see many people making quite a good recovery from schizophrenia by using nutrition is association with the standard antipsychotic treatment. No one is cured and they usually relapse if they stop the treatment.I have details at www.omega3.20megsfree.com
