I have taken a Sam-e 400mg it seems to help me stay focused I think personally. I don't think it's a placebo effect. I noticed if I take before I go to work it keeps me alert and focused on what I am doing. I am not as anxious when I take it and keeps from being cranky.

I've had different experiences with SAM-E. A few times it improved my mood and I had increased energy. But I am bipolar, so the SAM-E also made me feel a little agitated at times, and it seemed to do nothing that wonderful after taking it continuously for a while, but that might be because I'm already on a prescription antidepressant. I gave up on it only because it is contraindicated for bipolar, but I think it might be a good natural antidepressant for a lot of other people. Glad your having a positive experience with it.

My experience with SAM-e was good, but then it pooped out after a few months. Others here have said the same. It's due to some sort of homeostasis mechanism, as I understand it.
