Hi all,
I am looking specifically for a natural dopamine reuptake inhibitor (approximating Wellbutrin's mode of action). I know there's several dopaminergic supplements available, but I can't afford to buy and try them all...any of them reuptake inhibitors that you know of? Wellbutrin was a wonder drug for me but pooped out after a month, and now I'd like to try a natural supplement with magnesium (to prevent tolerance) to see if that'll help.
I'm currently trying Vitex, and while it seems to give me a lot of energy, it's a little buzzy and not particularly mood-lifting so far.
Thanks!

Yeah, I dunno about DARIs, but I wondered what you thought of Rhodiola.
I liked it but it made my sleep worse.

Hi,
I am currently trying Rhodiola actually! New Chapter brand from GNC. Rhodiola, from what I've read, is supposed to be stimulating, but I find it calming, with a slight sense of well being. But I'm on a lot of meds and supplements, so... I'm going to continue to take it, maybe try a higher dose over the weekend.

I had a great reaction to deprenyl citrate with rhodiola, but sleep was the limiting factor.

St Johns Wort, most especially high hyperforin brands, is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor. Well, in addition to being a reuptake inhibitor of serotonin, norepinephrine, gaba, and glutamate, all with equal affinity.

Hi oceancat, you could take 50mg zinc a day, it has pro-dopamine effects, including increasing the binding of dopamine, and enhancing the effects of cocaine (not that i condone that).
"Zinc inhibited dopamine uptake into synaptosomes at concentrations from 0.5 to 100 microM. Zinc (0.5 and 1 microM) augmented cocaine inhibition of uptake by 58-79%. Modulation of drug binding to the dopamine uptake complex is another role for zinc in the central nervous system."
This is the end of the thread.
