Orthomolecular Psychiatry

Posted by tonyz on May 28, 2009, at 14:22:52

Anyone ever find an orthomolecular psychiatrist that has good results. The theory, as I understand it is that for every abnormality a natural substance can be found to correct it.

As I also understand it is not highly regarded among the general psychiatric community, but that does not mean that it is flawed. I seem to remember that the main proponent suggested there was a link between schizophrenia and niacin and claimed to have some success.

Just wondering if anyone has decided to go the natural route in treating major recurrent depression and had some success being treated by an orthomolecular psych.

I would be looking for one in North Carolina or adjacent states. Anything beyond that would probably be impractical.
