Rhodiola + MAOI

Posted by Sunbath on September 11, 2009, at 14:22:29

Hi, sorry I don't have much time right now, just wanted to ask something very important to me:

I'm soon going to try parnate (about 8 days left).
I now tried Rhodiola force from New Chapter (I wasn't feeling good going off sertraline cold turkey because I wanted to start parnate asap). I originally ordered it because I never thought my pdoc would prescribe parnate to me (and if she wasn't I would have gone all alternative this time).
I also never thought Rhodiola was going to work or even do anything (another supplement that wouldn't be doing anything.. ok that's not completely true: tried st. john's wort before which WAS doing something, after using it for more than 1 month, but the effect wasn't strong enough). And of course I never thought that Rhodiola would work acutely!!!
But it improved my energy and mood and reduced my social anxiety! I don't know if this effect would persist, but I'd really like to use it till starting the parnate..

Is this contraindicated?
I read somewhere that rhodiola was a weak MAOI itself but couldn't find any info about any reuptake blocking effects..

Does anyone know if it's safe? Or should I not use Rhodiola 14 days before starting a MAOI?

Thanks a lot!!!

Where to buy MBS-13? Shipping into the EU?

iherb.com et.c. are shipping into the EU, but proactivebio is not. Does anyone know a good shop where to buy it other than the manufacturer's?
Thank you!
