Is ginko safe to take with psych meds? Currently on lamictal (200mg), klonopin(0.5mg), and lexapro(2.5mg) I'll be off the lexapro completely in a couple more weeks. I've used it before, it really did help my tinnitus, and maybe some cognitive improvement as well. Just wanted to know if there were any reactions that I should be concerned about... herpills

I believe that it is safe. I think the best brand is GinkGold by Nature's Made. It is expensive but is the most studied ginkgo popularly used in Europe.
There are other nice benefits of taking Ginkgo that we are now just finding out about.

Ginkgo is safe with psych meds. I worked in a psychiatric office for 18 years! Gingko is the single best antidote to the unpleasant side effect many antidepressants have, that of interfering with sexual orgasm. Just note that if you have any past brain trauma, ginkgo should be avoided, as it can cause brain bleeds in those circumstances.

I've read that gingko in addition to antipsychotics improves the efficacy of the antipsychotic. It's what I read, don't know how valid that info is.

Unfortunately, I also read that gingko has the potential to interact with certain antidepressants, which is why I am hesitant to try it because I take Zoloft. What a bummer!!

Yes, I read that also. I'm off Lexapro now and my doctor and pharmacist said it was OK to take with my current meds...
