I gave up on this supplement because sleep is impossible, even if I take it early in the morning.

That's too bad. What were you looking for it to do? If you did get some benefit from it, maybe you could try a lower dose (open the cap if you need to). Or, experiment with pine bark or GSE instead since they might be milder but have similar effects.

Yes, I found reports of insomnia. Sleep was possible, but I would wake early. When I discontinued the resveretrol it got somewhat better. What about grape seed extract without the resveratrol?

I'm on Pycnogenol, (pine bark) and grape seed extract. I take them daily for the last 15 years. I never had a problem with insomnia from these and they have had little effect on my energy. I take them for inflamation. Resveratrol gave me much more energy, stamina, mood lift and relief from chronic pain. It works wonderfully! Until it is bed time. I have tried Lunesta, Ambien, with very little or no effect while on Resveratrol. I wonder how Remeron would be with Resveratrol since it is the most sedating med I have ever taken.
Any thoughts???

Well so much for the pine bark/GSE idea... I don't think you said that you've tried lowering the resveratrol dose, though. Have you? I wonder if taking all three together is too much. Maybe you could try the R without the PB & GSE? Or take a combo product that has a little of everything and take it in modest amounts?
Thanks for sharing your experiences, by the way. Now that you've mentioned getting a greater response from R over GSE, I might try it since I've only experimented with GSE in the past. It would be unfortunate if it aggravated my insomnia, though. I do remember reading about this theory that OPCs increase norepinephrine (maybe why they work for ADHD?) so that might have something to do with it.

Don't give up on the Resveratrol. I wonder if it could have been "cleansing" the sedating meds out of my system, thus causing the insomnia? I'm also on Clonazepam and Carvedilol- a sedating beta blocking med, (usually prescribed for high BP) for a genetic heart valve defect.
This is the end of the thread.
