Hi there,
When I first tried Magnesium Glycinate it was like I was cured of anxiety and OCD worrying. I couldn't believe it. After about a week I became so fogged and then the depression returned big time. I discontinued it because it was aggravating my depression. I know glycine is attached to it so I am wondering if glycine was making me feel better? Has anyone had the same depressive reaction to different forms of magnesium and felt better on others? I didn't realize the forms are so different. Many thanks,
mogger

I haven't tried magnesium glycinate, but I have tried glycine and I don't like how it makes me feel -- kind of foggy. I've tried several other forms of magnesium, and the one that's most potent, by far, is magnesium L-threonate.

Magtein is the cheapest brand I've found.

Thanks Hugh, how does magtein make you feel? Does it help with mood and anxiety?

> MoggerThe label recommends three capsules a day, but one capsule a day is plenty for me. But I'm quite sensitive to many meds and supplements. Also, I prefer taking it early in the day, since I find it somewhat energizing. If I take it too late in the day, I find it more difficult to fall asleep. However, some people take it at bedtime and report that it helps with their sleep. It mildly elevates my mood.

Yes, I do think the magnesium glycinate can do that because of the glycine molecule. Glycine affects NMDA receptors. I had this experience as well, so I only took a little at bedtime for sleep, but not during the daytime hours. Eventually, I switched to magnesium citrate, which doesn't make me feel foggy.
This is the end of the thread.
