Hi - I've read both the above assertions of Niacin supplementation. What are your experiences? What dosages are typical? Is the form important?
I'm trying to figure out optimum amounts of all the B Vitamins which will help relieve depression without increasing anxiety/agitation (I'm assuming they are somehow affecting Neurotransmitters and finding the right "balance" is the challenge).

I take a form of niacin called niacinamide. It does the psychiatric stuff without affecting cholesterol or causing a flush.
I take 3 grams daily. It helps my anxiety a lot, my depression a little bit.
Hope this helps.
