matcha for mood brightening

Posted by beckett2 on July 18, 2018, at 19:31:07

Wanted to pass on the positive effect matcha has on my mood. This might be more than just the caffeine, because the effect is different from coffee, which I also love and is medicinal for me. With matcha there is no jangled nerves, nor am I jacked and tackling projects. Matcha just has me a bit calmer and brighter.

I'm curious if anyone here has a similar experience. If you haven't tried it, I recommend a decent quality powder. Many are old and bitter and not fun or delicious at all.

Ah, I found this discussion. Look at all the posters from before the forum's diaspora.

Once, feeling like ice-cream for want of other food, I added a tablespoon or two of matcha to the ice-cream and mixed it up, justifying this behaviour by Japanese precept.

No sleep that night. It wasn't caffeine. The effect was not unpleasant until I tried to sleep.

There is nothing like good traditional regional Japanese breakfasts.

Maybe I should try some. It can be mixed with that Japanese green tea toasted rice mixture and is nice if the balance is right.

green tea extract+l-theanine (I go for Suntheanine, personally) helps lift my spirits.

the only problem there is the occasional report of liver damage from green tea extract :-( . maybe I should switch?

I follow the Orthomolecular concept of high doses, so...1 gram standardized green tea extract and 600mgs/Suntheanine helped me calm down and perk up a bit within...an hour, maybe?

I don't know how long lower doses would take to help.

Liver damage? I hadn't heard. I suppose the extract is much stronger than a cup brewed with whole leaf. I need to check this out.

yeah...the gov't has a liver website/database (it covers pharmaceuticals, mostly) and that's where I found the most comprehensive information.

it seems that now and then, green tea extract contributes to or possibly causes liver damage. thing is...if I recall correctly, the people in most of the confirmed cases were taking high doses in muli-component supplements, so its kind of hard to blame it all on the green tea extract. I think there's been some liver damage in animal models using hi-dose extracts, too, so...yeah. good times (note the sarcasm). :-(

now that I think about it, though...I might go back to green tea extract. i drink tea (mostly black, now and then green), but not the 10+ cups daily that make a big difference. plus...its supposed to go nicely w/ taurine, and im thinking about getting taurine to help with the madness/affliction.

:-) thanks for your reply

i just saw this reply.

thanks for this. kind of...reaffirms my decision to drop green tea extract from the line up. i do feel badly for that man and others like him. having said that...

i think the media sometimes comes down hard on supplements, compared to OTC and Rx pharmaceuticals. i am not suggesting a conspiracy or anything, just...stating what I've observed.

thanks for the post, beckett.

True story. How can they say all supplements are a hoax? Thats so stupid! Who would believe that? Apparently many people and even doctors.
