I've just finished "Reviving Ophelia," by Mary Pipher. It was a painful experience, both because of empathy for the girls in it, and also because even some of the girls from damaging families had more attention from their families in some ways than I did.
I just wrote a long post about my reactions to it, but it was too self-pitying, and so I'll just say this:
It's an excellent book, gives a lot of food for thought, and I recommend it to anyone interested in the experiences of girls in early adolescence.
This is the end of the thread.
