Three Things I Pray

Posted by Dena on August 15, 2004, at 19:31:03

Oh, Dear Lord, three things I pray:

- To see Thee more clearly,

- Love Thee more dearly,

- Follow Thee more nearly,

Day by day...

I love that song....thanks Dena (nm)

I also love the song - I was in the musical play "Godspell" many times in my youth.

But long before it was a song, it was a heart-felt prayer.

To me, it just sums up all of my spiritual, emotional and physical needs in one simple phrase.

Shalom, Dena

Are you a singer? what do you sing? Alto, soprano...?
I've only been in a few plays in my life. I was the Blessed Virgin Mary in the christmas play.
It felt pretty special.

That is beautiful Dena. As always, I have to add something to the thought presented. To this one I would add, once you accept the Lord in this prayer, branch out to husband, friend, neighbor, children, etc.

What peace would the world enjoy if we could see one another more clearly, love one another more dearly, and sustain and support one another more nearly.
From my thoughts to yours,
rayww

Dear Jai -

I've sung all my life - I'm technically a second soprano, but since I could read music, I'd almost always be placed in the alto section in choirs. I majored in theatre in college, with a minor in music, and thought I'd take Broadway by storm, lol, me and a million other starry-eyed youths!

I got married, started having babies, and the rest is history... I still love to sing, but most of my performances happen in the shower, in the car, or in the middle of the night, trying to get little ones back to sleep.

A couple of years ago I sang in the praise band for our church - loads of fun, and it enabled me to enter into a deeper realm of worship, too.

I loved "Godspell" - my all time favorite musical (for me, it was real - it was on stage during a performance when I first met Jesus).

I've also been in "Sound of Music", "Something's Afoot", "Fiddler on the Roof", "Renaissance", and several non-musical theatre productions.

Maybe one day, I'll return to the footlights, but for now, my real life has plenty of drama!

Shalom, Dena

Yes, I agree, how wonderful to be able to see others more clearly, and love them more dearly ... but as far as following,

I will only follow Jesus. Not any organization, doctrine, nor church. Just Jesus.

Shalom, Dena

May Jesus lead you "safely" to His Kingdom then.
