Oh man, I feel like crying just writing this because to us, it was miraculous.

We were planning on around 20-40 people (40 was being WAAAY optimistic and full of faith)..

We had 99 people there ( 100 if you count the baby who is due in a few weeks!).

We had nearly 30 kids! It was amazing.

The service was annointed from beginning to end; worship (as immature as we were, it was just beautiful), the message God gave my dh, the prayer time..

We had a big brunch before and it was just sooo nice to see everyone together, eating, laughing, fellowshipping.

I have no idea how many will make a commitment and I'm not naive enough to think we can expect this many on the ground floor from here on out, but it was what we needed today to encourage us.

We have *NEVER* had opposition/ come under attack/ walked through fire like we have the last 4 months. This was our "parting of the Red Sea".

My dh just stood up and cried as he prayed. We were in shock.

We had SIX new families- people we did not know that had heard "through word of mouth."

We didn't even publicize it other than sending out 30 invitations to family/friends..

God is sooo huge, so awesome, this is just amazing.

Thanks for all your prayers the last many months. God has heard them.

PS. I'll get my dh to download the pictures and I'll put them on my blog so you can see photos of what you've been praying for!

I am so excited (tears). I have a feeling that you haven't seen the best yet. I believe that there will be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit like you guys have never seen before.

Spriggy, I am even believing that one day you will look back at this and will not even need medicine anymore. In the name of Jesus.

Oh, Spriggy...

I'm chiming in a bit late, but just as enthused as the others!!! What an exciting start for you guys! God is truly amazing..!

You've got my wheels churning... my husband (who was ordained, but had to leave that church, due to having chosen me over their legalism), has been making noises about wanting to start our own church...!

Egads!

I can't say I've been the most supportive wife in this realm! I've SEEN first-hand what folks can do to the "preacher's family"!

But he's been talking "home churches" for a while now... and it's starting to intrigue me. 'Specially since we can't yet find a church in this town (which is crawling with both churches and pubs!), that has the fullness of what we're hungry for: lively music (mixed with the music of the ages), real faith (not pretense), Spirit-expressions (without being emotionally shallow), going deep (not being sheep on puppet strings), daring to question status-quo (rather than going through the motions), enjoying Eucharist/communion weekly (as the early church did, so that the altar, not the pulpit, is the center of the church and service), and folks who refuse to live in a "Christian culture" (i.e., only read Christian literature, only watch Christian TV, only listen to Christian radio, in order to not get "world-cooties"!)... but who dare to be Christians IN culture, like Jesus did... meeting people where they are, accepting them AS they are, and letting the Holy Spirit, not a set of external rules, change their hearts, rather than just their surface behavior...

Haven't found that church yet...!

You've given me much to think about, without trying to...

Shalom, Dena
